Planning a holiday? Support sharks!

Are you planning your summer holiday already? You could help shark conservation!

There are a number of projects that give you the opportunity to support sharks through counting them, observing them or reporting the number of egg cases you have seen!

Shark Savers have recently launched the project ‘Every Shark Counts’ (https://www.sharksavers.org/en/our-programs/sharkscount). Check out their video below:

You can also count sharks in Palau with the Micronesian Shark Foundation (http://www.msfpalau.org) or look for egg cases of cat sharks in the Mediterranean with Medsharks and their project ‘Mermaid’s Purse (http://uovadigattucci.wordpress.com/english-hv-u-seen-a-mermaids-purse/)

There is also the Shark Observation Network, that is looking for experienced divers to report their sightings of sevengill sharks (http://www.scientificamerican.com/citizen-science/project.cfm?id=shark-observation-network).

And you can send in your reports and pictures about manta rays and whalesharks to expand existing databases. Check out our own citizen science page for even more info here: Citizen Science.
