Our work

The Dutch Shark Society works with a number of organisations, publications and people.

Currently, we are working on the following projects:

  • De Grote Eikapseljacht (Great Eggcase Hunt), www.eikapsel.org (Dutch Only), in collaboration with the British Shark Trust
  • Documentation for recreational anglers and professional fisheries: ID card, fact sheets in Dutch (together with a.o. Sportvisserij Nederland, now all published on our own website and at a.o. sharkray.eu)
  • Publications in diving magazines about elasmobranchs and citizen science
  • Publications on catch and release angling projects, diving, biology, television and radio interviews
  • Supply of images and videos to research organisations and NGO’s, students and teachers to support work.
  • Sharks and Rays Back into the North Sea! with the Dutch Worldwide Fund for Nature, Sportvisserij Nederland, Blue Linked and Stichting De Noordzee (Project Page)
  • Shark Meat in Europe, with the University of Exeter and other parties (see Project Page)
  • Children’s Book (Harriët de Haai, in Dutch see Issuu, also in print for schools and clubs)

On request, the Society gives presentations on sharks and rays, with images, information and video for every age group.
